Will Epstein revelations shake things up?

I don’t think the women will shut up.

It’s so wrong, and the women want to do what they can so that other young women are not used the way they were.

“Courage is contagious” is a phrase that has stayed with me since I heard it in this Democracy Now! show about Epstein survivors.

I wrote about the Epstein horror this summer, here, and I continue to think — to hope — that the undeniable, unjustifiable wrongness of it will bring people together across the political and cultural divides. There are people I know and love who are on the “other side” of these divides; I am Green Party and they are Trump supporters. It is clear to me that some “elites” use divide-and-conquer to keep us busy opposing each other while they consolidate power in their own hands. Rather than fall for that, I believe we can learn to act in solidarity for a better world.

My hope is that the revelations happening now
will bring people together
across the political and cultural divides
so we can create the huge social movement
we need to create a better world.

The revelations also show “How the Elite Behave When No One Is Watching” as Anand Giridharadas put it in his guest opinion piece in The New York Times. He read through all the emails and reported on the sex-trafficking, tax dodges, and other insider deals solicited by “the range of people to whom Mr. Epstein ingratiated himself. Republicans. Democrats. Businesspeople. Diplomats. Philanthropists. Healers. Professors. Royals. Superlawyers.” He was interviewed about his research in the Democracy Now! show entitled “The Epstein Class: Anand Giridharadas on the Elite Network Around the Sexual Predator.”

And then there is Venezuela, where the enormous military build-up and bombing of small boats is obviously dead wrong to many Americans across the divides. It’s costly in terms of lives, money and the environment, as well as to the US reputation in the world. For a closer look at Venezuela, see venezuelanalysis.com.

Contrary to the saying, “Things may get worse before they get better,” maybe things don’t need to get worse.

What do you think?
